The Final Tribute To Marian Louise Baker

Marian Loiuse Baker, born April 10, 1928, in New Bloomfield, Pa., died January 10, 1950, in West Lampeter Township, Lancaster County, Pa (age 21 years, 9 months). Funeral service was held from the Oscar H. Gundel Funeral Home in Conestoga, Pa., at 9:30 A.M., January 17th, with final resting place in the town she loved and her place of birth, New Bloomfield, Perry County, Pa. Rev. John B. Noss opened the funeral service with prayer and Marian’s beloved minister, The Rev. William Kutz of the Bethel Evangelical Congregational Church of Conestoga spoke on the Twenty Third Psalm. Through the service Rev. Kutz referred to the hymn “Lead Kindly Light” and read the poem: Crossing the Bar.” The service was closed with prayer after which the pallbearers, Elmer Huber, Jr., Maris Shaub, Raymond Rankin, Robert Rankin, Edward Weaver, and Robert Kreider rendered their services, and the funeral procession moved with police escort from Conestoga up the river road Rt. 411 through Marietta, Middletown, Steelton, Harrisburg, on to Duncannon ending the long trek in the New Bloomfield Cemetery where, following the prayer of peace, the family and friends departed leaving behind a part of their lives, the intangible love, devotion and memory of one of the finest branches from the family tree.
