Deciding To Post A Comment

I hesitated to post a comment that I recently received here in hopes that I could confirm the info it contained. I've asked several times for the commenter to contact me at any one of several email addresses but have yet to hear from her. I would love to post it but in the interest of fairness and fact I will wait a while longer. In the comment she asked me to contact her but failed to leave any way to do so.

To the daughter of the juror,
Please contact me so that we can speak. I sincerely would love to hear what you have to say but have no way to reach you. Your post did not include any contact information.
As much as I want to rely on what you have shared so far, I have to be able to verify that you are sharing accurate and factual information before I post any additional information.
Thanks! Suze

Update From F&M Regarding The Portrait

Hi Ms. Weik,

I have forwarded your inquiry to archives and special collections a couple of weeks ago and am waiting to hear back from them as to whether or not they have any information or the photo.  Traditionally such photos have been kept in archives. Unfortunately, the time period you are talking about predates the existence of this museum and even the period prior to collections committee which predated the museum for several decades.  We have very limited records regarding this time period as objects were generally cared for by the departments that held them.   To date, I have not run into any records related to this portrait and have not seen it in the museum's collection storage areas.  We are in the process of finishing a current inventory and should I find anything that is connected to the photo/portrait, I will  let you.

I'm sorry that I don't have any information at this time.

Sincerely,
Maureen Lane

Still Pursuing The Portrait/Photograph Of Marian

I am again awaiting information from the curator at F & M regarding the portrait of Marian that hung in East Hall when the Administrative Offices were relocated there. Upon demolition the location of that portrait became a mystery at least to her family and friends.
I always cringe when I think of where it was hanging. East Hall. The married students' housing where Ed Gibbs had lived with his wife, Helen. Where he hid his bloody clothes under the attic floor boards. From where he glanced out of the window, seeing the law enforcement officers eyeing his car. The building he tore out of in a panic, racing to the office where he breathlessly uttered his confession first.
I am still waiting to hear from a commenter who asked me to contact her. I have no contact info for you but would love to speak with you. Hopefully I will hear from you again soon.

A Reminder About Contacts, Information and Questions

I thought it was timely to remind everyone that you may contact me at any time at any of my email addresses such as:
s.weik@mchsi.com

PAGirlAtTheBeach@aol.com

 s.weik@live.com

nograyareaforme@gmail.com

As has always been the case, any information we exchange, any discussions we may have remain private until or unless I receive express permission to share it or publish it. Names and personal information are NOT shared with the readers.
Some unique and special circumstances have kept me from blogging here for a while but my research continues.

I also wanted to remind the readers that the book about the case, "A Murder In Paradise" is not a totally accurate or factual retelling of the story. Mr.Gehman exercised lazy authorship and produced most of his book from newspaper clippings and information funneled to him by friends at the Lancaster Newspapers. I have revealed more than a few mistakes in his book and there are more I'm sure. It is a starting point, but is not to be taken as a documentary fact sheet for the case or for information about anyone involved in the tragedy.

I also have determined through hours and miles of research that Edward Lester Gibbs did indeed murder Marian Louise Baker. No one else committed the act nor did they participate in any way.

Thank you all for your patience.

To Joie! Please Email Me With A Way To Contact You

Joie, I just received your comment and I am holding off on publishing it until after we speak. Please email me at s.weik@mchsi.com or PAGirlAtTheBeach@aol.com with a way to contact you. I am extremely interested in talking with you and your mother.

Some Crime Scene Photographs: It Really IS Real, Isnt It?

These photographs are chilling. They take you to the scene where Marian lost her fight and her battle for her life. Gibbs showed the authorities where he struck her with the lug wrench, where he choked her additionally, where he attempted to wash her blood off of his hands and ultimately where he tried to dig a grave when he returned to the Harnish cottage later that night. There were several trips. Attempting to bury Marian was only one of his purposes.

Commentary on 'the book'.....

The book dealing with the murder of Jan Roseboro has been released.
I have yet to purchase it and I have no plans to. It is nothing more than a vehicle for profit. That, in itself, is not a crime or a sin. But it serves no good purpose. It offers no healing. It offers no explanation. And it surely doesn't right any wrongs.

The vulturous who have waited for the release hoping to see a slight reference to themselves have been disappointed. Their panning of the tome reveals that and their indignation over being ignored.

We can only hope that now that carcass of the crime is so dry and decaying that the bloodsuckers will finally just let it be.
A beautiful Mom is dead.
A Dad was targeted by a gold digger and paid more than the ultimate price. He destroyed lives left and right.
Children have had their lives ripped and destroyed.
A poor little boy will live his life burdened by the salacious and disgusting acts of his parents, fighting for a sense of self worth.

All we can pray for is for the world to leave that little boy alone, to live a life designed by goodness and purpose.
All involved have been picked over long enough. Let them be.
The frustration that many feel about the gold digger will have to be given up to the Powers That Be.
She hasn't lost her children, her home or her life. She walks the streets smiling.
I can't imagine a person who should fear the afterlife more than she should.

Her partner is paying a paltry penance by being incarcerated for the rest of his life.
His due is far from done.
But she's going to have to stand accountable for what she's done. And being an innocent bystander is not it.
She spotted her mark, she made herself easily available and she bedded him.
And lives were destroyed.

The book is as 'icky' as the rest of the affair and murder.
And it's time to just let it go and let hearts try to heal enough to salvage the rest of their lives.

Tethers To The Past

I'm almost redundant in saying it's been a long time.
Family, work and health issues have kept my attention elsewhere a good portion of the last several months but Marian's story is never too far from my mind.
I was fortunate to hear from a long distance friend this week who graciously sent me some photos that they found relating to the case. I will be posting them here soon.
The weather is changing a bit, and with that change will come yet another roadtrip back home. I have much research to do, people to meet up with, records to review. I have sites to physically visit. Hopefully I will be able to gain access without a legal problem.
I do have to mention that I approach all sources and sites with absolute respect. I never want to be invasive or thoughtless. This story is about a woman who conducted herself with respect and that's how the research into her life and experiences has to be carried out
This is a stunning season in Lancaster County. As it is in New Bloomfield and even Pitman, New Jersey.
I'm so anxious to get on the road.....
